Look who’s standing!

Hailey can kneel/sit without using her hands now! Thank goodness because she can crawl from a sitting position but then when she gets tired she can only roll onto her back because she can’t sit up. So now she can sit up! Plus this week she’s learned how to pull herself up to standing on things. Dangerous! And this morning she discovered a new toy in the bathroom…the toilet paper!

She’s very girly…LOVES flowers (e.g. pulling petals off of roses) and jewelry (e.g. tugging at my necklace).

12-month clothes too small?!

"Hey mom, I think this new outfit is a bit small...I can't move very well! But I love the shoes and hat!"

Okay, guess it's on to size 18-month clothes. Those are size 4 shoes by the way and they barely fit. She's growing way too fast!!!

She's a GIRL, people!!!

So we were at Costco, and there was this woman giving out samples who said, "Aw, what a cute little boy! How old is he?" I refrained from yelling back, "She's a GIRL, darnit!!!" and responded with a polite and subtle, "Thank you. SHE's seven months old." And do you know what this woman said??

"Aw...but his haircut makes him look like a girl."

What the????!!!!

Words I've been longing to hear!

For the past couple of months Hailey has been babbling, “ba ba”… which in Chinese happens to mean “dad”. So of course I was so excited this week when she finally started babbling “ma ma”! Not that she has any idea what it means, but it’s still nice to hear!

7 months old already???

Boy, where does the time go?! Hailey is now 7 months old! Her smile and laugh are cuter than ever. She's really good at crawling now ... in fact, she even climbed two steps today! Plus she sat in a high chair at a restaurant for the first time today and had a blast flirting with the boys at the next table and playing with an empty to-go box.

She looks much older than 7 months (as her 18-month clothing shows). She's started taking baths sitting on her own, and LOVES her foamy alphabet letter bath toys. A "cookie monster" voice always makes her smile.

She eats 4 times a day, including 2-3 meals in a high chair. She's working on using a sippy cup ... great at grabbing the handles and bringing it to her mouth but still has a hard time drinking the water that gushes out.

Hailey still loves her jumperoo ... or the "poop" maker, as I like to call it. She just spend five days with grandma and grandpa while Ben and I went to Scottsdale, and she seemed to hold up just great! Except she has a little bit of a cold now too ... runny nose, a few sneezes and some coughs, but she's still smiley!

She misses her friends in St. Louis though ... hopefully they'll come visit soon!

Hailey can sit by herself but is a bit wobbly. We have to put pillows around her just in case she falls over. If she gets too excited, she tends to tip. So taking a bath in her baby tub has been really hard because she doesn’t like to lay back in her tub, she always wants to sit up. But she’s not stable enough to sit by herself so it ends up being a struggle to hold her upright with her trying to arch her back and sliding into the water. So we’ve started just showering with her, which is scary because she’s soooo slippery when wet! But the good thing is she gets very sleepy that way. Several times she has fallen asleep in the shower … and even stayed asleep on the towel! Very cute.

6 months old! Hailey can crawl…sorta. She gets up on her hands and knees, rocks a little back and forth, and then sits back down on her heels and the “leaps” forward onto her stomach. Then the whole process starts over again until she reaches where she wants to go. She’s very good at turning directions on her stomach though, and very adept at crawling backwards, although I’m not sure she doesn’t that purposely.

Hailey found out today that she's going to have a little brother or sister on April 7, 2009! SURPRISE!!!

Just like daddy ... and the fortune cat!

She sleeps with her hand by her face, which makes Ben excited because he claims that’s how he sleeps too (with elbow always pointed at my head). She has very busy hands – always moving them and loves them by her face. She even holds the bottle when eating. Very dexterous.

Hailey (and Mei Mei) spent some naked time in the sun in our bedroom today. She seemed to like it. Hopefully it'll help with her jaundice.

1 week old!

I can’t believe how fast Hailey’s growing! She looks different each day and I can’t help staring at her in awe. She’s so adorable and perfect. I guess it must be true that parents always think their baby is perfect. I take a million pictures and videos to try and document her growth. That's probably why she was annoyed and gave me the finger! =)

The plan is to take a photo of her with Mr. Bear every month so we can see how fast she's growing!

Snow!

"What's all that white stuff?"

We got 10 inches of snow today! Doesn’t happen very often in St. Louis. It was beautiful.
